kmart+martha+stewart+patio+furniture+covers at Staples

Male 31 working a kmart. I've said it to coworkers before. It's not a matter of if but when when asked if we are going out of business. I work a multitude of positions from working the floor, to unloading the trucks. To doing stock placment and merchandising and even service desk.
You wanna know what I get for all this effort and trouble? 9/hr 30hr a week NO CHANCE at raise. (Per corprate unless the job position demands it.) And a massive hatred for people in general that amounts to me wanting the entirety of the blight that is humanity to be wiped from existence and to never appear again Also fun note. On a good day we have 2 people working the entire hardlines department. Which covers roughly 3/4th the store. I also have the unofficial title of store muscle. As I am one of roughly 3 men in the entire roster of store that works the floor and 99% we have to solo take out 300+lb furniture and patio sets. (Team lift? What's that?)
Oh before today we were allowed to bring pallets onto the floor and unload them in the midway next to the aisle. Well not anymore. Solution that was brainstormed was we now have load every that's on pallets after doing the truck onto a flat bed and then bring the flat beds out. Taking literally 10x the amount of time and effort. Its screwed up and as I said 1 person on average had to work hardlines while the clothing department has on average 2-3 at a time
*update as of the start of Oct I am no longer employed at kmart and have gotten a new job in assembly/manufacturing. Currently working assembly line for a medical tray manufacturing company. first an foremost as a person just entering that field pay of $12.50/hr with 40+hr's guarrentied and overtime. Along with 401k and health, dental, life insurance as a +side. People are respectful and rather pleasnt to hang with in the group i was assigned. So all and all. It's so much better where i'm at now.

some back story: so i'm 27 now but this was back in the second year of middle school, i lived in a 2 bdrm apartment with my mom and my stepdad, i was really close with this one girl and at some point her dad lost his job and their place to live so my mom offered to let them stay with us since my mom was struggling to pay the bills cuz my ex stepdad was a lazy pos who refused to get a job. so they move in, my friend shares my room with me and her dad stays in the living room, my mom helps her dad get a job at the kmart behind the apartments where she worked alls well and good right? nupe
onto the story
so to get to my school we had to walk up a hill and across a small farm, idk why there was a farm but there was lol. One day it was raining hard so the farm trail was super muddy so i suggested we walked the long way to school cuz my mom told me not to play in the mud [i didn't like putting stress on my mom cuz she was working hard and was always tired and i love my mom a lot] but EF kept pushing that we go, i told her no and began walking the long way when she grabbed my hair and pulled me back, i lost my balance and fell into a huge puddle, get drenched and covered in dirty puddle water. EF: "now your already dirty so come on" i didn't let this fly, i didn't like causing problems for my mom but i was drenched, cold and crying so i told her to go to school by herself and ran home. i told my mom what happened and she called my school to tell them i was going to be late coming in. In walks EF who runs into the living room and sits next to her dad on the couch. my mom goes into the living room and says
M: "EF why arn't you at school"
EF: "if GomiNoYeet gets to stay home then i should too"
ED: "i agree, M let me use your phone to call the school and excuse EF from school"
my mom is 100% against kids staying home for no reason because to her education was very important, so this didn't sit ok with her
M: "GomiNoYeet isnt staying home, she is going to get cleaned up and in fresh clothes before i take her to school and go to work, there is nothing wrong with EF so you shouldn't encourage her to skip school"
ED: "don't tell me how to raise my child M"
my mother scoffed but she didn't have time to argue and decided to leave it at that, she got me cleaned up and in clean clothes before taking me to school. i got asked by teachers where EF was since they knew we lived together, i told them she is at home and left it at that. when i got home i saw her playing with my favorite horse, it was a Grand Champion Fantasy Fillies and i had gotten it for my birthday, i saw it at my moms work and begged for it even tho i knew we couldn't really afford it, she told me if i did my chores and homework on time then she would get it for me, i worked really hard for it and treasured it along with my black beauty horse. i kept them on my dresser so they wouldn't get damaged, when i got home from school i saw her playing with lilac [the grand champion] and i was upset and told her not to play with that, she popped off saying since we share a room whats mine is hers and i told her if she didn't give it back right now i was going to tell my mom. she screamed fine, threw it on the floor and slammed her foot down on it, snapping its front leg clean off.
EF: if you wont let me play with it then its garbage
all i could do was cry, i went to tell her dad but all i got was "it shouldn't have been on the floor then"
no i didn't tell my mom, for reasons you already know, but i cried for days and tried to tape the leg back on
over the next month EF kept trying to get me to skip school and go play on the farm trail and i told her no, she would get huffy and call me names but she was my friend and i was easy to cry. after they had been there about 2 months it was the weekend so we didn't have school so i decided to take c out for a walk to my moms work and EF tagged along, at this point i didn't like her anymore but i had to put up with her. we were walking from the trail behind the building to the front entrance and against the back of the building was a bunch of used beds people liked to dump there so they didn't have to pay dumping fees. EF sees these and runs over to lay one down and jump on it
EF: GomiNoYeet come jump with me
me: no thank you, my mom says these beds are really gross so i shouldn't play on them
EF: stop being a mommas brat and come on
i ignored her and kept walking, i had called my mom before i left with the house phone we recently got to let her know i was on my way [back then this was the best safety net ect since cellphones weren't a huge thing yet]
EF didn't like that and jumped off and ran towards me, ripping my dogs leash from my hand and bolting while yelling
EF: well if you wont play with me then i'm keeping your dog so it will play with me instead of you loser
again i was in tears and ran after her, i was already late going to my moms work so she was bound to worry but now this awful girl was trying to take my dog away from me, i grew up with this dog so she meant a lot to me and she was getting pretty old so being dragged by someone with more energy then her was tiring on her and you can visibly see that on her face.
i spent the next several minutes chasing this girl who refused to give back my dog, next thing i know my mom was headed our direction asking why i was messing around and how she was really worried, i told her EF took my dog from me because i wouldn't play with her and refused to give her back, at this point i was bawling because i had caused my mom problems, i was a small child so yeah i got upset heckin easy.
M: EF give GomiNoYeet back the leash and go back home to your dad
EF: no, your not my parent and this is my dog, daddy says i can have whatever i want so you cant make me
at this point my mom was visibly upset
M: EF you have one more chance, i'm getting fed up with your behavior, you need to remember you live with us while your dad gets his life together, this does not mean you are entitled to our things
EF: bite me B***h, i'm not going to listen to you
yes she had said the B word, back then this was extremely frowned upon and i'm pretty sure she learned it from her dad. My mom was fuming, she snatched the leash back from EF, dropped it to the ground, told my dog to stay and then bent EF over her knee and spanked her twice before telling her to go home and that she will be home later to speak to her father about her behavior. i had then finished my crying as she began to cry and darted home. my mom picked up me and my dogs leash and carried me to her work and set us up at the patio furniture in the front while she went to ask to go home, she was the cash cage lady and all her duties were done for the day [she had also been working there for a few years now] so they were cool with her going home.
When we got home all hell broke loose, ED was pissed she hit his child, and they got into an argument [guess where B was? in his room where he always is ignoring everything as usual cuz he liked ED as a friend, always took his side]
it ended with my mom telling them they needed to be out by the end of the week or be thrown out. ED didn't take kindly to this and stole some stuff when packing up his truck, then the last day my mom took me to 7-11 for slurpees to get me out of the house, leaving B in charge. when we got back our living room tv was smashed in and the vhs and some of my movies were gone as well as a bunch of other stuff. but at least they were gone from our lives. my mom didn't bother taking him to court because this was early 2000's and they weren't on the lease so she didn't want to risk losing our home
Fast forward to 9yrs later and i run into my now ex friend and not only did i surpass her in size but i was no longer the push over i originally was, she tried to greet me and i told her i wanted nothing to do with her before walking away. last i heard her dad lost his job a week after that cuz he didnt show up, she quit school and ended up in jail and i'm now a security officer making good money, my mom got a better job and kicked her POS ex to the curb. my dog unfortunately passed away from breast cancer but she lived a happy 15yrs, I'm going to see my mom next month for my wedding <3

Tl;DR
we let my friend and her dad stay with us, she bullied me, broke my prized toy then tried to steal my dog, got spanked my mom, our parents fight, they get kicked out but not after stealing stuff and break other stuff

My family rented a condo in LA for the holidays. It's in a great location in a really nice apartment building close to The Grove.
As we are being shown the place by the host's assistant, he lets it slip that the previous guests had been there for 3 months and that we are the first guests after that, red flag number one. Second red flag was the fact that there were candles going in every room. After he leaves the discoveries start...
Fast forward - here's the list of problems with the unit:
Major Problems

• Horrible smell from the dishwasher, completely unusable
  
• 1 key for a unit that sleeps up to 9 people
  
• Unit's dryer doesn't dry clothing, just gets warm, had a load of towels in for 2 hours didn't get dry.
  
• Unit is dirty
  
  • Floors are so dirty children's feet are black after walking around
  • Upstairs shower in queen room was dirty (rubbed a towel on the floor it came up black)
  • Dust bunnies on the floor in one of the rooms
  • Old food in kitchen drawers

Minor Problems that add up to major disappointment

* Microwave can't be programmed with a time. It's just counting down from a huge number, can't be reset because the stop/clear button doesn't function. * In sink garbage disposal doesn't work * Patio door doorknob comes apart when you use it to open the door, leaving you holding a door handle. * All the beds have duvets without duvet covers. Kinda unsanitary since duvets don't get cleaned. * One of the shower heads in queen room doesn't function * One bed didn't have complete sheet set, scrounged and found a different sheet. * The linens are sparse, inferior quality. Kmart tags still on them. * Unit sleeps 6 to 8 only has living room furniture that sits 4 (1 couch, 1 chair) * Remotes didn't control the TV (we reprogrammed) * Second TV in the house not hooked up, just sitting there, not even plugged in 

So we informed the host, and she has been reponsive on email, but nothing is getting fixed while we are here. We informed AirBnB within 24 hours. They have suggested that we negotiate with the host on a reduced rate.
Has anyone done that before? How did that go?
We are thinking of a daily rate reduction of around 50%, including the cleaning fee.
