States reported 2 million tests, 223k cases, 128,947 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19, and 3,915 deaths.

The bright spot is our most consistent metric: current hospitalizations. This week, they appear to have leveled off. That said, there are still more than 2x the number of hospitalized patients now as during previous surges.

Here's that weekly look. Testing data may be back online after the holidays and case data is beginning to stabilize. As noted, we seem to be seeing the first signs of hospitalizations slowing down at a national level. https://covidtracking.com/analysis-updates/soaring-death-numbers-and-highly-regional-outbreaks-this-week-in-covid-19-data-jan-14

Advantages of Poker IDN

The term poker IDN is using to refer to a relatively recent development within the field of online gambling, one that has been adopted from and inspired by its predecessor, the ancient card-based system of gluing player names to poker hands. The earliest form of poker IDN was developed by Yomi Sang Tanahara in the year 2021. Tanahara is a prominent figure in the world of Indonesian poker, having played the sport for decades and winning a record seven World Series Poker Championship matches. He then decided that he would like to introduce an IDN system, which would allow his players to be able to compete against players across the poker globe without having to use their real name, something that would allow him to retain his status as a top poker player. He went on to develop the poker online system now known as poker face IDN.
Poker online IDN play can be traced back to one of the most seminal events of the last decade, the eruption of the Kisite volcano. After months of tension, with residents living in what used to be the town of Halong bay fearing the worst, the world's largest volcano erupted on July 27th, 2021. Thousands of residents had to flee their homes, and the death toll was high on both sides of the conflict zone. The ensuing civil war saw the deployment of thousands of soldiers onto the beaches around Halong Bay, which Tanahara found appealing. In the process, he also managed to create the first ever poker online IDN play.
Today, poker online IDN play continues to grow, with more and smaller companies getting involved in the business. Some poker sites have even taken the initiative to become licensed operators themselves, providing their own IDN service and making it possible for players from countries as far away as Thailand to take part in Bika matches. Melakan, a company from Malaysia that is one of the leading poker software providers, has made this possible with the launch of its Bika poker app for iPhone and iPod Touch. The app provides Bika players the option of playing Bika poker online, across all servers, from anywhere in the world.
In addition to the potential for expansion and international recognition, poker online IDN also offers a number of benefits. One is the possibility of registering in any one of hundreds of countries across the world where Bika is the legal gambling currency. Players in countries such as the United States and United Kingdom, where beberapa layanan is a legal currency, can benefit from poker online IDN play by registering in one of these countries. For example, if a player were to reside in the United Kingdom but play Bika in Thailand, the chances of having his winnings reduced (or not being paid at all) would be less. The same would be true if he lived in the United States but played Bika in Malaysia. With the registration process being global, this presents an opportunity not only for players in foreign countries but for players from the United States and other countries where beberapa layana is the legal currency.
A second advantage to playing poker online IDN is the ability to play for money. Players can transfer funds from one account to another and can also play with chips that have been added or removed from the bankroll. This is important for players who reside in different countries, in which case it is possible that their banks in each country might not allow them to withdraw funds from their accounts in their home country.
The last advantage to be considered is the presence of a large and steady supply of players for the short term. The short term players are generally stronger and more experienced than the long term players. This means that at any given moment, there is a likely player on the team of the IDN operator somewhere in the world. Players can make play of games without leaving the comfort of their homes. They can easily log on to a different IDN casino to try another day of play without worrying about the possibility of being unsuccessful.

UK conservative opinions on Uk policy ideas (immigration, unions, advertising, electoral reform etc)

I would call myself a libertarian. I am a Marxist in that I use a materialistic interpretation of history and events. I have some ideas that I think would benefit the UK. Some of which are in line with conservative ideas. I would love to know what you guys think or what you think would be a better idea. Please criticize. I hope to have a dialogue about this as much as possible.
Drugs
de criminalise all drugs (much like portugal) treat it as a mental health issue. A lot of people take drugs because of homelessness and poverty so by dealing with those hard drug use will go down. Legalise Cannabis, Mushrooms (and most hallucinegics), LSD, MDMA and Cocaine (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2009/jun/13/bad-science-cocaine-study). tax them inline with the estimated costs for misuse of them. regulate them like tobacco and alcohol.
Obesity and Food
Ban the sale of energy drinks to children below 16. ban the sale of very sweet confectiionary and drinks to children below 16 (some mexican states have done it recently), This includes in schools. tax very fatty, sugary or nutritionly rare foods in line with what the estimated costs are for the NHS to deal with the health problems caused by them (much the same way we do with alcohol, tobacco and in my tax system other drugs). Possibly make it mandatory to fortify very cheap foods with minerals and vitamins so the impoverished can get more nutrients. although the body doesnt absorb these very well so it might be pointless.
Make it illegal for a company/business to throw away food stuff and make them donate it to foodbanks/food charities.
Advertising/product placement/Games/Gambling
Ban all adverts to children in any way. Ban alcohol ads, vaping ads, gambling ads, payday loan ads, ads for big SUV/highly polluting vehicles. Ban product placement, ban TV shows for kids that have toys explicitly linked to them. Ban Loot box system in games. Make fixed odds betting machines have lower returns. Either tax very highly online gambling sites (spin wheel style), forced break periods or make it a state monolopy. Gambling is effectively a license to print money. why shouldn't the state take the proceeds from what is a worthless noncontributing part of the economy. All ads that have photoshopped used need to a sign saying they've been photoshopped and very thin models have to have a medical certificate that they are healthy (like france).
NHS
repeal the Blair laws making the NHS act more a competitive business which have proved to ineffective. Make the English NHS system more in line with the Scottish system.
Tax or in some make people who do more dangerous activities pay a small amount extra for the increased likelihood of needing the services of the NHS like motorcyclists, horse riders, extreme sportspeople.
Free speech
repeal a lot of the Blair era censorship legislation. repeal with 2014 porn ban.
prostitution
legalize brothels. but make prostitution licensed to stop sex trafficking. Mandate the wearing of a condom. Possibly make it that you can only be a prostitute if you hold a british passport to stop sex trafficking from abroad.
Trade Unions
repeal the anti-trade union legislation.
Electoral reform
I think a system like Single Transferrable Vote would be better than FPTP. I think that registered political parties should somehow get some minimum funding from the state to facilitate a healthy and varied democracy. Remove the hereditary peerages from the house of lords.
availability of credit
I don't think payment plans for normal consumer goods should be available. I think it should be harder to get a pay day loan than it currently is.
Fines
I think that fines for speeding, other fine-able offenses should be means tested and shouldn't have a cap.
Copyright
I think that Copyright should expire for everything after 50 years. So at the this point everything from before 1969 should be in the public domain. I think any British citizen creator who leaves the UK to not pay income tax should have the copyright for their work removed in the UK when they do leave.
Welfare
Introduce Universal basic income in the UK. replace all the means tested and tedious bureaucracy associated with current system. I think it should start from 18 years old and increase slightly each year. Maybe start at 5,000 pounds and by your thirties move up to 10,000 pounds by the time you want to start having kids etc. I think UBI would make work always pay more than being on benefits. It would disincentive benefits fraud as well as people having children to acquire more benefits.
Tax
I do believe in a progressive taxation system. I think the tax free threshold should be raised. I think the brackets for taxation are good at the moment but I would add higher tax thresholds at higher rates e.g. 50% at 200,000, 60% at 500,000. I am unsure what the upper limit should be for tax rate or income. The rich will leave anyway (Jim ratcliffe most recenty) no matter what the tax rate is. If they ever wants to come into the UK they should have to pay to do so. If they have a knighthood it should be taken away.
Immigration.
remove all EU citizens not in critical under supplied or high paying jobs from the UK as well migratory workers from outside the EU. Syrian Civil war refugees should go back as well. basically as many people as possible should be made to go back to their country of origin without directly endangering their lives. I think the pay threshold for workers to legally migrate here should be much higher probably 40,000 pounds a year. there should be not net migration to the UK each year.
children and population growth
I think the UK should aim for net 0% population growth. I think couples who want to have kids should be made to screen for any hereditary recessive genetic diseases before they plan to have a child so they can know if they're kid is going to be disabled. Possibly people should have to have in the womb embryo testing as well to see if theyre child has any genetic diseases. legalise child euthanasia (like belgium and the netherlands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groningen_Protocol). I think people should be discouraged from having lots of children especially those without the means to provide for them. however if people do decide to have kids I think the provision for parenting should be a lot. 2+ years of paid maternity leave. free parenting lessons, support as much as possible the needs of the child and mother in the critical early bonding years. Ban all Child beauty pageants including trans ones (like france has done). I don't think childen can legally consent to hormone replacement drugs. I think the age of criminal responsibility should be raised should be raised to about 14. I think there are arguments to lower the age of consent in the UK to 15.
the environment
Library of things/Repair cafes in towns and cities to be able to more easily repairs good or not have to buy in the first place.
Government subsidy scheme to better insulate homes across country.
More extensive use of nuclear fission energy for electric generation.
Large scale food waste reclamation for Compost or animal feed.
Subsidy for Ground source heat pumps for poor households
Subsidy for Thermal exchangers in home for poor households
Make planned obselescene illegal. Make right to repair legally mandated.
simplify the amount and types of plastic products to make it easier to recycle goods. Ban non recyclable plastics from being used in single use items.
Make products label their expected lifetime (from average use) so consumer knows what a good long lasting product is. For large electric goods perhaps put a minimum expected lifespan for it to be sold in the UK.
I think you could legislate to make products illegal from rainforests or unsustainable harvested forest.
Tax loopholes
make all gift-aid illegal, make art donations as tax write off illegal, donations to think tanks, charities illegal as tax write-offs,
currently if you live outside the UK for more than 6 months you don't pay any income tax. I think the amount of income tax you pay should be proportionate for how long you spend in country with a bare minimum of 20% (estimate).
Make shell companies illegal so large multinationals can't escape to tax havens and not pay corporations tax. If they don't ban them from trading in the UK. This may need to be done in a coalition of states working together.
education
repeal Blair era education legislation that created needless hoops and paper work for teachers. repeal new laws that teachers can you sources from anti-capitalist, anti-democratic sources etc. repeal the Gove/Cameron legislation that made schools behave like businesses. The point of school is for the kds to work hard and earn qualifications not the teacher. It is an inherently discriminatory system. allow at GCSE much more education in technical qualifications. e.g. bricklaying, carpentry, electricians etc, machine work. I don't think they need to start at 16 or above. I think theres an argument that children should be able to leave school at 16. Some of the courses they do are pointless. Apprenticeship pay is so low that in the short term it makes more sense to get a minimum wage job. Atleast make apprenticeship pay in line with minimum wage to incentivise it rather than literally force kids to be extremely cheap labour.
self defense
I think it should be legal to carry around pepper spray, mace or stun gun. The criminals already have weapons. Why not decriminalise the ability for an individual to defend themselves especially women. Free female self defence classes.
BBC
release all BBC created media onto the Iplayer. The British Tax payer paid for it. Why shouldn't they be able to access it. Perhaps make a BBC iplayer app to host it all for foreigners to use and pay for like Netflix.
International business
Make corporations who sell goods in the UK prove that they don't come from slave/child labour. If they don't then they can't sell that product in the UK.
VAT
remove VAT for resold, recycled products, upcycled products, products that are good the planet (re-chargeable batteries, battery chargers). effectively rebrand VAT as a carbon tax. completely remove VAT on sanitary products, all energy efficiency/saving products.
Voting
like Australia make it mandatory to go to the polling booth.
University
make universities offer their humanities subjects as online only option so that people can do their degree from anywhere and not necessarily in the expensive university town. the course would be cheaper. Make foreign students pay for their healthcare when they are here.
Tourism
make foreigners pay to get into British Museums especially the big ones in london. I realise this may be cost prohibitive for smaller Museums.
Housing
change the rental legislation that tenants can legally not pay full rent if a landlord hasn't done repairs to the standard of the property when the renter moved in.
No foreigner can own more than 2 homes in the UK (in thailand you can't own any property unless you're thai)
Cap the number of a properties anyone can own. especially for buy to let landlords.
If a house has sat vacant for too long it has to be put on the market as a competitive price.
houses cannot be treated as an investment where it doesn't matter if its occupied or not. a roof over ones head is a right.
Homelessness
expand the access to homeless shelters. the best way to stop human and sex trafficking as well hard drug use to is stop homelessness.
migratory farm workers
ban migratory farm workers in the UK. there are thousands of Uni, GCSE, college and A level students who have months off school in the picking season. Why not get them to pick fruit and vegetables? same thing goes for homeless people. Get them all to pick fruit and veg.
littering & dog tax
small tax on having a dog to pay for dog park maintenance, dog bins, etc. small tax on single use packaging to pay for more Bins on high street, bins to be emptied more regularly to reduce littering. Same small tax on tobacco for cigarette butt bins.
These are all my ideas. Please critique them.

UK LibDem opinons on UK policy ideas (immigration, unions, advertising, electoral reform etc)

I'm not sure if this is allowed here. I would call myself an environmental libertarian-ish. I was a member of the Lib dems from 2012-2013. I am a Marxist in that I use a materialistic interpretation of history and events. I have some ideas that I think would benefit the UK. Some of which are in line with Lib Dem ideas. I would love to know what you guys think or what you think would be a better idea. Please criticize. I hope to have a dialogue about this as much as possible.

Ban the sale of energy drinks to children below 16. Ban the sale of very sweet confectionery and drinks to children below 16 (some Mexican states have done it recently), This includes in schools. Possibly Ban the use of High Fructose Corn Syrup and Margarine in UK foods. Possibly make it mandatory to fortify very cheap foods with minerals and vitamins so the impoverished can get more nutrients. although the body doesn't absorb these very well so it might be pointless. Ban the Injection of water in meat to make it look bigger.
Plain Packaging and warning labels on Junk food like cigarettes. make the nutritional information for actual representative portions. If companies shrinkflate a product then they have to put it on the packaging of the product that they have done so. Ban the sale of Alcohol and Tobacco to pregnant women (not sure how you enforce this).
Make it illegal for a company/business to throw away food stuff and make them donate it to foodbanks/food charities (Like France)
Advertising/product placement/
Ban all adverts to children in any way. I think you could also make toys/mannequins sold in the UK have realistic proportions for both boys and girls. Ban junk food ads, alcohol ads, vaping ads, gambling ads, payday loan ads, ads for big SUV/highly polluting vehicles. Ban the sponsorship of events by any of these things either. Ban product placement, ban TV shows for kids that have toys explicitly linked to them. All ads that have photo shopped used need to a sign saying they've been photo shopped and very thin models have to have a medical certificate that they are healthy (like France).
Gambling/Games
Ban or reclassify Loot box systems in games. Either make the lottery state run and recieve all the profits for public work or ban it and replace it with a government bond deposit scheme like premium bonds but a lower threshold to enter.
NHS
repeal the Blair laws making the NHS act more a competitive business which have proved to ineffective. Make the English NHS system more in line with the Scottish system.
Tax or in some make people who do more dangerous activities pay a small amount extra for the increased likelihood of needing the services of the NHS like motorcyclists, horse riders, extreme sportspeople.
Ban the ever greening of drugs so they can be made cheaply and generically. If a pharma company has received funding to develop a drug then it must be sold at cost (or much lower profit). Somehow democratise the access to science and medical journals e.g. higher tax, made to be free if research was publicly funded, government run science journal).

If they ever wants to come into the UK they should have to pay to do so. If they have a knighthood it should be taken away.
Immigration.
Remove all EU citizens not in critical under supplied or high paying jobs from the UK as well migratory workers from outside the EU. Syrian Civil war refugees should go back as well, The war is over now. basically as many people as possible should be made to go back to their country of origin without directly endangering their lives. I think the pay threshold for workers to legally migrate here should be much higher probably 40,000 pounds a year. There should ideally be no net migration to the UK each year.
children and population growth
I think the UK should aim for net 0% population growth. I think couples who want to have kids should be made to screen for any hereditary recessive genetic diseases before they plan to have a child so they can know if they're kid is going to be disabled/Birthing complications. Possibly if a couple is high risk of a genetic diseased child people should have to have in the womb embryo testing as well to see if theyre child has any genetic diseases.
I don't think children can legally consent to hormone replacement drugs. Ban Gay conversion therapy. I think the age of criminal responsibility should be raised should be raised to about 14. I think there are arguments to lower the age of consent in the UK to 15.
Euthanasia
Legalise child euthanasia (like belgium and the netherlands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groningen_Protocol). Legalise normal euthanasia for people of any age as well.
the environment
Library of things/Repair cafes in towns and cities to be able to more easily repairs good or not have to buy in the first place.
Ban or curtail the sale of bottled war. Install more water fountains and public bathrooms instead.
Ban paper junk mail and possibly free newspapers.
Make products label their expected lifetime (from average use) so consumer knows what a good long lasting product is. For large electric goods perhaps put a minimum expected lifespan for it to be sold in the UK.
I think you could legislate to make products illegal from rainforests or unsustainable harvested forest (palm oil specifically)
The point of school is for the kids to work hard and earn qualifications not the teacher. It is an inherently discriminatory system. allow at GCSE much more education in technical qualifications. e.g. bricklaying, carpentry, electricians, machine work, DJing etc . I don't think they need to start doing it at 16 or above. I think there's an argument that children should be able to leave school at 16. Some of the courses they do are pointless. Apprenticeship pay is so low that in the short term it makes more sense to get a minimum wage job. Atleast make apprenticeship pay in line with minimum wage to incentivise it rather than literally force kids to be extremely cheap labour like now.
self defense
I think it should be legal to carry around pepper spray, mace or stun gun especially for women. The criminals already have weapons. Why not decriminalise the ability for an individual to defend themselves especially women. Free female self defence classes.
BBC
Release all BBC created media onto the Iplayer. The British Tax payer paid for it. Why shouldn't they be able to access it. Perhaps make a BBC iplayer app to host it all for foreigners to use and pay for like Netflix.
business
Make corporations who sell goods in the UK prove that they don't come from slave/child labour. If they don't then they can't sell that product in the UK. Ban or reclassify Multi Level Marketting companies as Ponzi Schemes. Label Scientology as a cult (like Germany has). Regulate detox tea and supplements like any other medicine/pharmaceutical. One day a year allow any to search for a named person and see what their salary is (Norway does this). Get rid of 1 and 2 penny, they cost too much to make for what they are.
Government
Ban former MPs from ever holding any business position once they retire. Make them divest all their business interests before being an MP. Make their spouses and children's company's to never receive state money or have a job in a state enterprise. Same goes for Generals/Civil Servants. Spread of Government facilities from London to other cities e.g. does any every ministry need to be in London? Pay HMRC accountants/auditors much more than they a company would so they tell the government the loopholes companies use to not pay tax. Make it Financially rewarding to be ethical.
VAT
Remove VAT for resold, recycled products, upcycled products, products that are good the planet (re-chargeable batteries, battery chargers). Effectively re brand VAT as a carbon tax. Completely remove VAT on sanitary products, all energy efficiency/saving products.
University
make universities offer their humanities subjects as an online only option as well as in person so that people can do their degree from anywhere and not necessarily in the expensive university town. The course would be cheaper. Make foreign students pay for their healthcare when they are here. Give less money to unis with more beneficiary (e.g. red brick unis). They already have so many endowments they don't need as much from the state. Foreign students can't work at all while studying here.
Rent control for a property inline with inflation for renters.
There are thousands of underemployed Uni, GCSE, college and A level students who have months off school in the picking season. Why not pay them to pick fruit and vegetables? Same thing goes for homeless people. Get them all to pick fruit and veg.
littering & dog tax
Small tax on having a dog to pay for dog park maintenance, dog bins, etc. Small tax on single use packaging to pay for more Bins on high street, bins to be emptied more regularly to reduce littering. Same small tax on tobacco for cigarette butt bins.
Misc
Legalise Polygamy.
These are all my ideas. Please critique them.

UK Labour opinions on UK policy ideas (immigration, unions, advertising, electoral reform etc)

I'm not sure if this is allowed here. I would call myself an environmental libertarian-ish. I am member of the Labour Party. I am a Marxist in that I use a materialistic interpretation of history and events. I have some ideas that I think would benefit the UK. Some of which are in line with Labour ideas. I would love to know what you guys think or what you think would be a better idea. Please criticize. I hope to have a dialogue about this as much as possible.
Drugs
Decriminalise all drugs (much like portugal) treat it as a mental health issue. A lot of people take drugs because of homelessness and poverty so by dealing with those hard drug use will go down. Legalise Cannabis, Mushrooms (and most hallucinegics), LSD, MDMA, Steroids and Cocaine (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2009/jun/13/bad-science-cocaine-study). Tax them inline with the estimated costs for misuse of them. Regulate them like tobacco and alcohol.
Obesity and Food
Ban the sale of energy drinks to children below 16. Ban the sale of very sweet confectionery and drinks to children below 16 (some Mexican states have done it recently), This includes in schools. Tax very fatty, sugary or nutritionally rare foods in line with what the estimated costs are for the NHS to deal with the health problems caused by them (much the same way we do with alcohol, tobacco and in my tax system other drugs). Possibly Ban the use of High Fructose Corn Syrup and Margarine in UK foods. Possibly make it mandatory to fortify very cheap foods with minerals and vitamins so the impoverished can get more nutrients. although the body doesn't absorb these very well so it might be pointless.
Syrian Civil war refugees should go back as well, The war is over now. basically as many people as possible should be made to go back to their country of origin without directly endangering their lives. make universities offer their humanities subjects as online only option so that people can do their degree from anywhere and not necessarily in the expensive university town. the course would be cheaper. Make foreign students pay for their healthcare when they are here. Give less money to unis with more beneficiarys (e.g. red brick unis). They already have so many endowments they don't need as much from the state. Foreigns students can't work at all while studying here.
Tourism
make foreigners pay to get into British Museums especially the big ones in london.
If a house has sat vacant for too long it has to be put on the market as a competitive price.
rent control for a property inline with inflation for renters.
houses cannot be treated as an investment where it doesn't matter if its occupied or not. a roof over ones head is a right.

PSA: Countries and their gambling bans

Favor for the GTA Reddit of the day.
Kudos to - www.wizardslots.com and various Redditors for input. I have removed those fields that are just for 'Land Based' as they should allow online gambling alright. Some have very odd laws and will need tested.

Notable edits - Originally the USA was added to this, it is illegal to gamble in Hawaii and Utah for example but the casino seems to function as normal there. There are a few countries as well that have gambling laws but again GTA's seems to duck underneath these. I'm not an enforcer of the law, nor am I a solicitor but common sense would lead me to say if GTA is allowing you to do it then you shouldn't have to worry about anything. If you cannot access the Casino games, VPN's are a known work around but this could net you in trouble. I won't be assisting players on where to find those (various comments have so far) but be warned it is to be used at your own discretion.

Many of you may not understand much about what baccarat games look like yet. And how to play, how? We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Baccarat game to everyone in general. Baccarat game is a steaming card game.
Similar to playing bounce cards in our country. Playing a game is to deal with 2-3 cards per side to count the total number of points. Those who achieve a better score, but not more than 9 points, will be considered the winner of the bet. But if the points are equal, the third card is called to count the total number of points again.
However, baccarat differs from playing bounce cards. Our house is that there will be open bets to predict the winning side. Or can always predict the outcome. Those who guess correctly will receive compensation if they have a bet.

Duterte still waiting for China’s ballyhooed bonanza

INTRODUCTION

This article titled Duterte still waiting for China’s ballyhooed bonanza is written by RICHARD JAVAD HEYDARIAN a political analyst in Manila. Mr. Heydarian is affiliated with the Liberal Party, the establishment party that Benigno Aquino belongs to, that doesn't favor closer ties with China at the expense of sovereignty. While some people see Duterte as a anti-establishment candidate, in reality he is part of the elite, and is affiliated with former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo that favors closer economic ties with China. This was evident when she was President.
In the article, Mr Heydarian argues that after 3 years, Duterte has very little to show for in actual investment from China. This is confirmed by this article Playing a losing game with China. All the Philippines has gotten from China right now is about a couple hundred million a year in Chinese investment mainly online casinos which most of the Filipino public and the Chinese government itself want Duterte to shut down. Cambodia shut their online Casinos last month, because of pressure from the Cambodian public and China.
The reality is as far back as a decade ago it was apparent that China didn't consider Philippines strategic. The US$24 Billion in aid and investment that China promised the Philippines was just a promise. Secondly, the reason why Chinese commitment to Philippines has been low is because its more careful lately with disbursing funds for BRI projects, and the Filipino themselves are very careful. Philippines overseas debt is 24% of its F/X reserves. Given China current account balance is moving to balance (small deficits/small surplus), China will be more careful how it lends money overseas in the long run.

SUMMARY

Despite China's highly touted Belt and Road Initiative, a US$1 trillion program to build infrastructure worldwide, Japan's infrastructure-related investments are still much larger than China's in Southeast Asia.
His comments came amid festering territorial disputes between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea, which have escalated since a suspected Chinese militia vessel rammed and sank a Filipino fishing vessel at the sea's Reed Bank in June.
China's promise of an infrastructure investment bonanza, funds that were supposed to drive Duterte's touted "Build, Build, Build" campaign, has not arrived, putting into doubt the wisdom of his mostly acquiescent policy in the South China Sea.
Ahead of his election in mid-2016, he made it clear that he prefers warmer ties with China, because "We have to talk and what I need from China is not anger. What I need from China is help to develop my country."
Three years later, among China's ten proposed big-ticket infrastructure projects, only the $60 million Chico River Pump Irrigation Project and another has apparently cleared the preliminary stages of implementation.
Philippine Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III has admitted to several "Roadblocks", including China's initial insistence on using renminbi in aid disbursement, heavy reliance on Chinese workers and managers, and an unwillingness to co-finance projects with other lenders such as Japan and the Asian Development Bank.
However, even more worrying, festering territorial disputes between the Philippines and China in the South China Sea, which have escalated since a suspected Chinese militia vessel rammed and sank a Filipino fishing vessel at the sea’s Reed Bank in June.

OPINION

WHY THE CHINESE DON'T CONSIDER THE PHILIPPINES IMPORTANT
Chinese don't consider the Philippines that important, because they are obsessed with the Malacca Strait. China has billions of dollars in Malaysian BRI projects, while very little infrastructure investment in both the Philippines or Thailand for example.
There are three reason for this.
The first is because of Philippines strict environmental laws, there isn't a lot of Chinese investment in mining unlike Indonesia or Myanmar.
The second is conceptual and historical. The Chinese have a 15th century view of Southeast Asia. At the time Philippines was a scattered collection of small kingdoms and tribes. Zheng He passed the Philippines as they sailed through the South China Seas, without making any stops. In contrast, the Japanese have considered the Philippines strategically important during the war and after the war. During the War the Japanese main invasion route into Southeast Asia was from Taiwan to the Philippines and down through Makassar Strait, capturing the oil fields in Borneo and finally to Java.
The third is Filipino are very pro-American, so relations could easily reverse once Duterte steps down.
HOW FAR CAN THE CHINESE PUSH THE FILIPINOS BEFORE THEY SNAP
Despite what many Mainland Chinese think, the friendliest country in Asia toward ethnic Chinese has been the Philippines, not Thailand. The last time there was serious anti-Chinese violence in the Philippines was 17th century. Unlike Thailand, the Philippines never forced Chinese to assimilate by closing Chinese language schools. Some Chinese assimilated, some didn't.
Over the past decade, there have been numerous incident between Chinese Coast Guard and the Philippines naval and Filipino fishermen. Here is a timeline of the incidents between China and the Philippines
Skirmishes, standoffs, harassment in West Philippine Sea
Between 2012-2016, there had been 8 incidents. In 2018-2019, there have been 10 incidents. In the South China Seas, Duterte appeasement of China only increase Chinese harassment, which sends the wrong message to other claimants - that appeasement will make it worse.
During all these incidents, the Filipinos never started like riots like Vietnamese did in 2014, leaving over dozen Mainland Chinese dead.
How do you think people would react in China? Riots were started over incidents with Japan. There are Mainland Chinese harassing people in foreign countries over Hong Kong.
In one incident this year, a Chinese ship rammed a Filipino fishing boat, sinking it. They left the scene, leaving 22 Filipino fishermen in the water. Someone could have died. The Filipino public were upset, but there was no demonstrations let alone rioting.
SOUTHEAST ASIANS OK WITH CHINA, BUT MAINLAND CHINESE NOT SO MUCH
Chinese think historical and hold grudges, Southeast Asian, particularly Filipinos don't, and are more worried about the present. Filipino's don't care how great China was in the past. They don't obsesses over the Japanese occupation like the Chinese do
Southeast Asia is different from the West, is ordinary people are less concerned with actions of the Chinese government, but with activities of Mainland Chinese in their respective countries. This in turn impacts the overall relations between countries and China. The two biggest areas of concern for Filipinos about Mainland Chinese are:
The Chinese government recognizes both problems, and has told the Philippines government to ban online Casinos. My personal opinion is China could solve these problems and stop illicit transfers overseas, by legalizing casino gambling in Mainland China.
In my opinion, the only major benefit the Philippines has gotten with improved relations with China is the tourist numbering has doubled from 500,000 to 1,000,000. However, tourist number were increasing before the improvement in relations.
CONCLUSION
If I was in China's position, if I could get something for nothing, I would do the same. I think Duterte's mistake was over promising to the Filipino people of the potential China's bonanza. China didn't cough much aid or investment under Arroyo, and Duterte should have expected that policy should have remained the same.

How to safely source products for your business

I've worked as an international buyer and company GM over the last 5 years and have experience in both online sourcing methods and in person travel, being mentored through a company with a lot of importing experience. I see many people struggling with this side of business and am passionate about solving these issues, having started a new sourcing platform that fixes the issues I've encountered over the years (I'll link to it at the bottom). I'll give my take on how to source safely with current popular methods and give some insights most probably don't know about.

If sourcing online, try 1688.com, they're more competitive than alibaba and most other sourcing platforms(Yes its owned by Alibaba but the platform is less saturated with buyers and suppliers are more willing to negotiate) I'm not sure how experienced you are but here's a few tips. Never show that you're a newbie. Try to be as professional as possible while being very friendly. If working with China/Asia, Chinese business is largely based on relationships. Be friendly, interact with your salesperson and get wechat. Also try to upsell yourself and your company. If you can pull it off, tell them you're first looking to place some smaller trial orders as you want to switch suppliers. Its a lot easier to negotiate once you have an existing relationship going with the supplier. Also get as much info as possible, photos, video, ask technical questions, etc. The more diligent and professional you are the less likely they'll think they can get away ripping you off.

If you are paying through Alibaba, know that Alibaba only covers whatever is exclusively specified in your contract, unless you have VERY solid proof, and even then its a gamble. Alibaba is funded by their suppliers so they don't like to open disputes and chase suppliers down for money. (Alibaba has to pay you out of their own pocket first and then chase down the supplier to get paid back) if you win. Also, remember the $xxx inspection you have to do to use trade assurance. Once your order is delivered, if anything is wrong just to open a dispute means you have to get another inspection at your location which can cost $2,000+ and you only get reimbursed if you win. They purposely make it difficult to dispute orders as a deterrent, I strongly suggest trying to solve it outside of Alibaba if you're not sure you'll win. Also contracts are very difficult to enforce in China unless you have legal representation. China government tends to lean toward their people in most situations. If its a small order, just try to be as informed as possible, if its a larger one, maybe pay for an inspection from Beureu Veritas or any of the big guys that won't rip you off. Though you're looking at a $500+ cost. It is worth it though, as suppliers see it as a deterrent to cutting corners, and you also get an inspection (If your margins can afford it)

If you're flying in, check out the Canton Fair trade show. Over 200k buyers and 60k suppliers concentrated in a location. Generally these are companies of quality who have $ to spend buying a booth and flying their employees out. China is also becoming more difficult to source for lower end products. Their younger generation is less willing to work in factories and their middle class is growing really fast. In fact their domestic market is largely competing with exporting, meaning they're less likely to give on price.
If you're going to fly in, I suggest developing manufacturing countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, etc. Lower quality generally from inexperience, but very willing to do business as they're off the beaten path upcoming companies.

Why adding casino update when half of the world can't play...

Hi Reddit!
I recently discovered that more than 50 countries are banned or partially banned from using any casino features in the recent update. Here's the list :

Should Rockstar do something about this? Will this be a disadvantage for those who can't use casino?
Have a nice day!

How to be a good friend, when your best buddy get screwed by his wife in divorce.

I had a friend for some years, which my wife(now ex-wife) never approved, because he was not the brightest candle on the cake and thought he would be "below our social stand". But I liked him, he was funny, but most of all, he was always right there when I need a helping hand, while my other so called "friends" always had other "important things" to do.
The he met a girl which instantly became pregnant. I never really trusted her and I think I can read people. He was working in shifts in a cold storage to pick and pack things for orders. The job was hard and not paid well. He could have lived from welfare and would not have muss less. But he stayed at the job while she was sitting at home, supposedly looking after the child and do the housework. But in reality she dropped off the kid as his parents and went shopping and hang around with "friends". I have to mention that his parents had some money, not really right people, but they supported him a lot, like paying for a new car he could never afforded with his income.
I told him one day that I have seen her in the co-driver's seat of another guy. He denied that this would be possible, but I guess he was just to embarrassed. Their flat was always a mess and when I was there for a visit he began to tidy up a bit.
So when he came back from work, he cleaned the house, cooked or looked after the child. She did only sit in the kitchen, smoking and making phone calls or WhatsApp. When I pointed out that she is doing nothing, he lied that she already spent the day with other tasks in the house and is just taking a break. Of course she did not like me and began to influence him to dismiss me and other friends. So as time went by, we me only occasionally, but he did not go out any more or did meet with other friends. When someone asked him to join, he was always busy with family or tiered.
Then someone told me that she is pregnant again. I went by to compliment him on the happy event. We talked a bit about old time and the fun we had. But after that we did not really see each others a lt again.
Half a year later his parent died in a tragic car accident. His father was stingily old grumbler, but his mother was a nice lady. When I heard about I imediatly went by and offered my help if needed. When we meet again at the burial he told me that he inherited their house and that there was a nice life insurance policy, which was meant for the case that his father died before his mom. But now he would get the money instead. I told him to be careful and not spent everything.
I even helped him to redo his parents house and to move in. But then I did not hear from him again for a while.
3 months later he showed up al the sudden at my doorstep. He asked if I had some time to talk and I could see how he was holding back the tears. I had other guests, but took him to the garage and grabbed some beer from the fridge.
He told me that she left him and he is alone with the kids now. He had to ask his aunt to look after them, so he could come over. He went on that they where fighting a lot since the got the money from the insurance and how to spend it. She was ordering a lot online and then giving it away to "friends". I told him from my experience with my divorce and that I would not trust her. HE thanked me that he could unburden himself and left home.
The next day I went by after work to look after him. He told me that she went by this morning they agreed to divorce. To save costs they would share one layer to save costs. As they did not have a marriage contract, everything would be split in half. Again I warned him not to trust her.
End of the week I wanted to check on him again. He was alone home with the kids and devastated. He got a letter from a layer, her layer, earlier this day. Asking him to pay alimony and child support, for the 2 kids living with him. I insisted that he got his own layer now.
At this he was still working and had to ask his aunt to look after the kids while he is at work. One day she showed up at the aunt to pickup the kids. She imediatly called him at work, but there was no legal way she could have kept the childs for the her mom. When my friend arrived the aunt could only tell him that she took off with another guy in a car.
She did not answer any calls of text messages for the next days. He went mad. I turned out that her layer told her that she had better chances if the kids stayed with her. From here it went downhill fast.
They started a fight over the kids and the child welfare service got involved as she alleged that he would get drunk every day, talke drugs and watch porn all day. Trutz is this guy came home from work, spent time with he kids and did the house work until she left him. And even then, alone with the 2 kids he cared about everything. But with all the lies she managed to get full custody of the kids at court.
One day she took the car from the paring lot at his work. And when he came back from work, he fond that all the valuable stuff in the house was gone. The new motorbike was gone as well. Neighbors told him that she showed up with a guy that then drove away with the bike. Later it turned out that she was cheating on my friend with this guy for months and had other guys before.
When he told me I could not believe that he did not change the locks, but l knew from my divorce that there is no theft as long as you are married. So we went to his home, picked up all the valuable stuff that was left and more important all the paperwork to store it at my home. Then we came up with a plan.
We filled out some sale contracts, for the motorbike, the old and new car. And for everything else that was valuable. then we went to the bank and drained all accounts. He also put a mortgage on his house and got a loan from the bank. Important to mention is that she had the keys to the vehicles, but not the papers. So we figured out where this new guy lives and we took my car to drive by in the night to collect the car and the motorbike, which we parked in my garage. I went to the admission office the next day to register them on my name. Then I showed up at the guys doorstep. To my surprise the police was there as well. She had reported both vehicles as stolen. When she saw me she started yelling that I would be involved in the theft. I kept calm, and explained to the officers that I had bought some stuff from my friend, including the cars and the motorbike, as he could not pay anymore for the alimony she was asking. I had all the paperwork with me. Her jaw dropped. I then continued that I am here to pick up the other items I bought and if they where so kindly to hand them over. She lost it and started yelling again. One of the officers had to tell her to calm down. I asked if I can take the stuff with me now, or if I should ask the police to assist. Well, without court order they would have done nothing, but the luckily officers played along by saying nothing. She then yelled she rather demolished everything before I would get it. I said calm that she can, but I would sue her for the value of "my property" and now that I have two police officers to testify. Her new boyfriend jumped in as he clearly was very uncomfortable with the situation and having the police at his doorstep. He even helped me to get the large tv in my car.
Then she sued him out of his home. Yes, he had to move out of the house of his parents and move into an apartment. While she moved in with her new boyfriend. But we had a nice surprise. The day before he had to move out, we bought some fresh fisch at the supermarket. We sliced it into small pieces and stuck it in hidden places. Inside the wall socket, inside the curtain rails, behind the skirting boards, the traps in the drainpipes and other places you would not look into. I guess after some weeks the smell must be horrible, but hey her problem now.
Then we went to the casino a couple of times every week. He changed money to chips and kept the return, while I cashed them in and gave him the money back. After 6 months he stopped working, did not pay the mortgage back to the bank and also stopped paying alimony and child support. Her layer sued him and at court he said that he was devastated as he had not seen his kids for months a got addicted to gambling. That he has lost all his money and even more. He could prove his story with the receipt he kept. The judge order him to get a new job and to provide for "his family".
Even he this was win for him that she did not get anything from him anymore, he was still suffering that he did not ever see his kids again. I told him that I am about to visit an old friend that has moved to Thailand some while ago, and if he does not want to join. We had a lot of fun and I was able to cheer him up and let him forget all the crap he was going thru the last 2 years. On our flight back home he told me that he plans to move to Thailand. I asked him if he really thinks that this is the best for him. He explained then to me that his life at home is ruined anyway. He has big outstanding debts, not only his loan from the bank, also his wife had sued him for the alimony and child support, and the costs for the layers(his and his wife) and the cost are piling up. He went on that when everything is over, if he would use the cash to pay everything, there would be not much left or even would have still debts to pay. It would also just a matter of time until the bank would auction the house from his parents to cover for the loan. With his small wage job he did not have to expect any sustainable pension payments, when he is old. So there was nothing to hold him back.
Over the next weeks he figured out with my friend in Thailand how to transfer the money he had in cash and get a bank account that is hidden from the access from his wife or officials at home. There is a 2 year waiting term before you can get divorced in our country. When the divorce was processed at court, he was already living in Thailand. He had opened a small shop to rent motorbikes to tourists. My friend helped him getting everything arranged as usually as foreigner you cannot open a business in Thailand. So officially the shop is owned by some Thais, my friend made sure everything is setup that no one can screw him over again. He started with 5 motorbikes and did all the repairs and maintenance by himself.
All this is nearly 10 years ago. Today he still lives in Thailand, he is married to a Thai wife, they have 3 children. His shop has now over 30 motorbikes to rent and he has 3 employee that do the work. I visit him regularly now. He has never seen his kids from his first marriage again, and still is close to tears if he's is reminded. But from what I can tell he is happy now. He filed for personal bankruptcy at home, so after 5 years he had a clean record again. His business is doing well, but compared to our standards he is living a moderate lifestyle.
You may think his action where not legal or morally wrong, especially to his first 2 kids. But I have seen a man who never did something wrong, who could have lived from welfare with his two kids, but chased to get to a lousy paid hard work every day. But his ex-wife wanted to take everything from him, including the kids, and the system helped with it.
If you had to eat that much shit, but never did something wrong before, then I think you deserve a new start and a happy life.
